Commissions & Collaborations
Commissions:
I have undertaken several private commissions for individuals, creating small scale work involving copper vessels and enamel, but also large scale garden pieces incorporating steel and enamel panels.

I have been commissioned by Boyle Arts Festival to create presentation pieces for guest speakers and for the person who launches the Festival on the opening evening. I have created an enamelled vessel as a presentation piece for Former President of Ireland, Mary McAleese.

I was recently awarded a commission by the Office of Public Works to create a sculptural artwork for the Visitors Centre at the Ballycroy National Park, Co. Mayo. This is a large commissioned artwork measuring 4m by 7m of steel panels with enamelling and should be installed November 2021. I will add images of the work as it progresses and of the finished piece once completed. The work will be inspired by the dark night skies over Mayo where there is little light pollution and by discussions with the local community and visitors to the Visitor Centre.

I was commissioned by the Arts Committee of the Strule Arts Centre, Omagh, to create an exhibition of wood engraving and enamel work that responded to the writing of Benedict Kiely. The solo exhibition was launched as part of the Benedict Kiely Literary weekend and a piece of my work was selected to be the first artwork purchased for the Fermanagh and Omagh Councils new art collection.

I have just completed a short video commissioned for Heritage Week 2020 by the Intangible Cultural Heritage Committee to show my work as a wood engraver and printmaker. The video briefly traces the introduction of wood engraving in the 1700's by Thomas Bewick and I demonstrate the tools used in this form of printmaking and show how to print from a lemonwood block. The video is titled Letting in the light - the art of the wood engraver and can be found under my name in Youtube.
